Manufacturing
In the Emmental, we manufacture and assemble products and solutions for architecture, as well as for hoisting and lifting technology. We also build and service our Habegger rope hoists in Trubschachen.
We have strong regional roots. This creates tradition, quality, and a strong network of partners. This enables us to successfully sell and use our products at a high level throughout the world.
- Wire rope manufacturing: We produce various types of ropes up to 28 millimeters thick on the 14 rope machines at our site. We conduct trials and load tests on our ropes and components on two traction machines (2 tons and 75 tons of pulling force).
- Fiber rope manufacturing: Our rope makers manufacture synthetic fiber ropes, natural fiber ropes, and walkable nets. We use our stranding and twisting machines to produce fiber ropes for industry, playgrounds, shipping, and architecture.
- Assembly of architectural ropes: Our more than 3,500 architectural components are mounted on stainless steel ropes here. Our assembly facility is equipped with roller burnishing machines, presses, and a cutting station. We process ropes from 1 to 8 millimeters in diameter.
- Assembly of hoisting and lifting technology: In our pressing room, we manufacture galvanized ropes, chains, and lifting gear for mountain railways, industry, forestry, and our Habegger rope hoists. Ropes from 0.54 to 38 millimeters are processed here. We also carry out inspection and maintenance for chains and lifting gear here. Our team is experienced in certified splicing, crimping wire rope sleeves, and casting wire rope end sleeves.
- Habegger production: We have been manufacturing Habegger rope hoists in Trubschachen since 2022. All manual and motorized rope hoists for loads from 600 to 12,800 kilograms are manufactured here. In the test room, all rope hoists are tested for functionality and quality. Standard loads and overloads up to 15 tons are tested.
- Metalworking and CNC machining: Our Habegger assembly also includes mechanical production with CNC machines and a metalworking shop.
Architecture and craftsmanship
Stainless steel ropes envelop our main building. These ropes carry our craftsmanship and expertise to the outside for all to see.
A total of 1,200 ropes with a total length of almost 20 kilometers are stretched around a tubular frame structure, creating a facade of 2,700 square meters. The engineering department of Jakob Rope Systems carried out the design and structural detailing of the rope structure. The ropes and tension parts come from our in-house assembly and were installed by Jakob specialists.
Numerous architectural products from Jakob Rope Systems are used inside our offices and production spaces: Webnet, suspension rope structures, trellis structures for greening, and various prototypes from our RopeLab.
Sustainability and responsibility
As a Swiss manufacturer, we strive to balance progress with environmental protection. Our commitment to sustainability extends to every level of our business, from the sourcing of raw materials to the delivery of finished products to our customers. Wherever we can make a difference, we promote climate-friendly business practices and manufacturing.
From the environmentally conscious architecture of our sites to our commitment to renewable energies, from the gradual electrification of our vehicle fleet to the development of our employees – every decision we make is guided by our responsibility to preserve our planet for future generations.
- Our employees can recharge their electric cars and e-bikes with free solar power on site. We have converted our management's vehicle fleet to e-mobility.
- Sustainability was a key criterion in all new construction and renovation phases: instead of building a new facility on a green field site, the existing location was expanded and densified. This meant that no additional land area was built on or sealed.
- The efficient ventilation and air conditioning system includes heat recovery. All artificial lighting systems are LED-based. Finally, all roof surfaces are equipped with photovoltaic systems, which cover around 75 percent of the energy requirements.
